Tom MacKay

Mr. MacKay is a registered professional engineer with over 35 years of experience in the design, construction, and implementation of resource projects in North America.

Over the past twenty years, Mr. MacKay has been a founder and/or senior executive member of several successful resource development corporations, focusing on the upstream portion of the oil and gas industry. Tom is currently a director of several private oil and gas companies.

Mr. MacKay is a founder of CoBiz Group Ltd. and his responsibilities include the identification of international business opportunities with an emphasis on the potential use of Canadian technology and services to support the development of natural resource projects and related community capacity building.  The current focus of CoBiz is the south Pacific and Australasia with initial attention to developing community business opportunities in Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

Tom MacKayIn 1991, Mr. MacKay, as President of Chancellor Energy Resources Inc., negotiated an agreement with the Blood Indian Tribe (Kainawa) to explore for hydrocarbons on their lands in southern Alberta, Canada. This agreement led to the successful discovery of natural gas and oil on Blood lands. Tom also assisted the Blood Tribe in the repatriation of important tribal historical artifacts from the Government of Canada and the construction of a gathering center for the tribe. In 1995 Mr. MacKay was inducted into membership of the Kainai Chieftainship of the Blood Tribe, where he is involved in assisting in community development and educational scholarships. Membership in the Kainai Chieftainship is limited to forty individuals and includes the current Prime Minister of Canada, two former Premiers of Alberta, Prince Charles, as well as several business and educational leaders.
